Arrival by *raybender combines a good perspective and well chosen details. The contrastful colors and the clean brushwork make this painting extraordinary.

I can see how you didn't have the same level of attention at every point, as the top is blurry and sketchy while the distant background in the bottom seems to be detailed to the last pixel. I would have devoted the detail to the foreground while left the background somewhat blurry and sketchy.
Something else that greatly bothers me: is that huge cylinder hanging right on top of the landing pad? That would be Very counter intuitive, as a narrow, circular landing pad would be precisely for VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) vehicles, which by definition require a clear overhead.
I completely understand your statement on putting in too much detail, my personal work always ends up with me putting in to much detail and much like yourself I find it a increasingly difficult struggle to try and loosen up....none the less I really like your work Ray...... I've always liked sci-fi just never got a chance to do any....got sucked into another realm of art, feel free to browse my gallery and leave a critique.
